November - Epilepsy Awareness Month

November is National Epilepsy Awareness Month. Epilepsy affects about 2 million people in the United States and is characterized by recurrent, unprovoked seizures. Delayed recognition of these seizures and inadequate treatment increase the risk for additional seizures, disability, decreased health-related quality of life and, in rare instances, death. Although epilepsy can occur at any age, the condition is more likely to begin among children less than 2 years of age and adults older than 65 years. As do many who live with other chronic disorders, those with epilepsy often face challenges related to managing epilepsy treatment, symptoms, disability, lifestyle limitations, emotional stress, and stigma.

Must Have Hope. Cuz We Definitely Need A Change

In the first contest of 2010, the question shouldn't be whether Democrats will win but by how much. On Tuesday, Massachusetts voters will select the late Sen. Ted Kennedy's successor. Martha Coakley, the Bay State's attorney general and the Democratic nominee, was until very recently the prohibitive favorite over GOP nominee Scott Brown, a state senator.

The race was supposed to be a yawner but has become the focus of the political world as recent polls have shown it to be a nail-biter: Public Policy Polling, a Democratic firm, reported over the weekend that Brown had a 48-47 lead, while a Rasmussen poll released today had Coakley ahead by a mere two points, 49-47--a virtual tie, as it is within the 3 percent margin of error.

Two Worcester police unions endorse Brown:
Republican U.S. Senate candidate Scott Brown yesterday accepted the endorsement of the Police Department's two major unions.

...Sgt. Donald E. Cummings, president of Local 504, said Mr. Brown's service in the National Guard shows that he knows the threat of terrorism is real, and understands the role public safety personnel play in protecting residents.

Support The Seals - Drop The Charges Against Our Brave Fighting Men

Support the Seals - Please help get the word out

It was March 31, 2004: Fallujah, Iraq. Four civilian U.S. contractors were transporting supplies for a catering company. They were ambushed, killed, their bodies burned and dragged through the streets, then hung from a bridge on the Euphrates River.
A NAVY SEAL TEAM captured one of the military's "most wanted" terrorists, the one responsible for the heinous crime.

•SO-2 Petty Officer Second Class Matthew McCabe is accused of punching the terrorist, and is also charged with dereliction of duty for "failing" to "safeguard" the murderer.
•SO-2 Petty Officer Jonathan Keefe and SO-1 Julio Huertas are being charged with dereliction of duty and making false statements.

The prisoner alleges that he was punched in the face by McCabe, but it isn't clear if the injury was self-inflicted, or occurred while he was in Iraqi custody or when he was captured.

Please note: He was not water-boarded. He was not electro-shocked or tasered. His fingernails were not pulled out. Nor was he boiled in oil. He most certainly was not shot, burned, mutilated, nor hung from a bridge. He got a bloody lip.
