A dashcam video from the Alaska State Troopers shows a dog leading them through winding back roads to a blazing fire at his owners' property.

The video on the troopers' website shows the German shepherd running to meet the trooper's vehicle, then racing to the house on Caswell Lakes on April 4.

Troopers say Buddy and his owner, 23-year-old Ben Heinrichs, were in the family workshop when a heater ignited chemicals. Heinrichs told Buddy: "We need to get help."

The dog eventually found a trooper responding to a call about the fire.

The State Troopers are presenting a special award Friday to the dog. Buddy will receive an engraved silver-plated dog bowl in Anchorage.

Rush Limbaugh Rushed To Honolulu Hospital

Conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh is resting comfortably in a Hawaii hospital after suffering chest pains while on vacation, his radio program says.

"Rush appreciates your prayers and well wishes and will keep you updated via rushlimbaugh.com and on his radio program," the program said in a statement late Wednesday night.

Limbaugh was rushed for medical treatment earlier in the day. The statement said "Rush was admitted to and is resting comfortably in a Honolulu hospital today after suffering chest pains."

Breaking: Massacre At Fort Hood - 12 Dead, 31 Wounded In Shooting

Fox News reports:

A shooting rampage Thursday afternoon at the Army's Fort Hood in Texas killed 11 and wounded 31 before the gunman was killed and two suspects taken into custody.

All three of the people believed to have carried out the shooting were soldiers, Lt. General Bob Cone told reporters Thursday evening, though the motive remains unclear.

Cone said witnesses reported seeing more than one shooter, but that couldn't be confirmed. The primary shooter used two handguns, he said.

The shooting took place 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the post's Soldier Readiness Center, where soldiers undergo medical screening before being deployed or after returning from overseas.

"We have a terrible, tragic situation here," said Cone. "Soldiers, family members and the civilians that work here are absolutely devastated."

What Goes Around, Comes Around

A Colorado sheriff said he was pursuing criminal charges in the case of a 6-year-old boy who vanished into the rafters of his garage while the world thought he was zooming through the sky in a flying saucer-like helium balloon.

The boy's parents, Richard and Mayumi Heene, met with Larimer County investigators for much of the afternoon, but Sheriff Jim Alderden didn't say who would be charged or what the charges would be.

Shame this family has become the main attraction of this mad circus. Wonder if this is the kind of fame they wanted.

A circus-like atmosphere formed outside, including men holding signs and occasionally yelling "balloon boy." One sign read, "Put balloon boy on TV: America's Most Wanted."

Other gawkers carried aluminum-foil stovetop popcorn makers that resembled the silvery balloon launched from the family's backyard Thursday, with 6-year-old Falcon Heene believed to be onboard.

Brand Name Drugs vs. Generic Drugs (video)

I received an Epilepsy newsletter that I found pretty interesting. There was a segment on the Today Show (video) referring to Brand name drugs vs. Generic drugs and the consequences of using generic.

Awhile back our pharmacy/insurance gave us the generic brand anti-convulsant Tegretol for my daughter's seizures. I took notice of the change but didn't think anything of it. Until she started seizing. Thank God her seizures were petit mals and not grand mals. She just had the eye twitching, staring, etc. Course that scared the hell out of me anyway, so we immediately got her back on the brand name. Even to this day, our pharmacy/insurance will still try to pull that generic stuff on us every so often so I have to call and make a fuss. Even with doctors orders that it has to be Brand name, the pharmacy will find a way to sneak in the generics.

I knew it was the generic brand that was the culprit that caused her seizures but no one (professional) ever confirmed my suspicions. No one ever questioned it either. So what I once believed to be true but no pharmacist or doctor would confirm it, is now validated! I suppose we would have never known either, unless we tried it. It's just unfortunate that no one ever warned us of the possibilities of such side effects. Just as they don't educate parents on the dangers of vaccines. But that's another story for another time. Oh well, trial and error, eh? It's just ashame our children have to be the guinea pigs in all this.

Her Name Was Neda

Her name was Neda. In Farsi, it means “the voice.” True to her name, she loved music; sought freedom; and she’s dead - shot down in the streets by the Iranian regime’s state sanctioned murderers. She must not have died in vain.

Today, Iranians and Americans face a generational chance for freedom - one that ensures a rogue regime’s implosion prevents a nuclear confrontation.

Regrettably, our president’s “post-American” foreign policy presumes talk can thaw the murderous mullahs’ hearts and attain a “grand bargain” for peace in our time; consequently, while Iranians demanded their freedom from a barbarous regime, the president vapidly opined: “It is up to Iranians to make decisions about who Iran’s leaders will be… We respect Iranian sovereignty.”

Then, as the crisis escalated, the president optimistically noted:

“You’ve seen in Iran some initial reaction from the supreme leader that indicates he understands the Iranian people have deep concerns about the election… And my hope is - is that the Iranian people will make the right steps in order for them to be able to express their voices, to express their aspirations.”

Tragically, the supreme leader’s deep concern drove him to step on the throats of pro-democracy demonstrators, like Neda.

Next, on June 20th, the president stated, “The universal rights to assembly and free speech must be respected, and the United States stands with all who seek to exercise those rights.” It was painfully evident just how far behind them he stood: “The last thing that I want to do is to have the United States be a foil for those forces inside Iran who would love nothing better than to make this an argument about the United States.”

With these contradictory statements of support and appeasement, the president returned to square one: “The Iranian people will ultimately judge the actions of their own government. If the Iranian government seeks the respect of the international community, it must respect the dignity of its own people and govern through consent, not coercion.”

In truth, the Iranian people have already judged the regime and found it wonting. The supreme leader, his cleric cronies and their puppet government have never respected the dignity of the Iranian people or governed through consent. This is why the regime stole the election and shoots peaceful, pro-democracy demonstrators. Implying otherwise mocks the Iranians risking and losing their lives for liberty.

As for the claim that American “meddling” in support of the demonstrators plays into the mullahs’ hands, the Iranian regime will claim this regardless, for as our president noted, “That’s what they do.”

Yet, what matters is not what the regime says about America, but what the demonstrators think about America. Presently, brave Iranians watch as our president still holds an open hand to the regime that opened fire on them…that opened fire on Neda. This is the passive, disastrous policy of Jimmy Carter that led to the rise of this rogue regime; not the courageous policy of Ronald Reagan that led to the demise of an evil empire.

The surest, safest termination of Iran’s nuclear weapons program and support of terrorism is to hasten this fanatical tyranny’s collapse by supporting its people’s liberty. Taking its rightful place amongst the community of free nations, a democratic Iran will necessarily realize and reverse the insanity of this terrorist regime’s homicidal obsession with nuclear weapons. Thus, for their liberty and our security, the United States and the world must do everything in our power to further the Iranian demonstrators’ sacred claim to freedom. We know Neda did.

Further, in the grand strategy of our War for Freedom over terrorism, how we aid pro-democracy Iranians’ will remind the world who we are - we are Americans: the revolutionary children of freedom who have lived and died defending our liberty and extending it to the enslaved and oppressed. We will do no less today in support of our Iranian brothers and sisters.

Today, Neda’s voice calls to our consciences and warns that the fate of Iranians’ liberty is entwined with the fate of Americans’ security. We must not miss this generational chance for freedom - again one that ensures a rogue regime’s implosion prevents a nuclear confrontation; and that Neda and all liberty’s martyrs shall not have died in vain. As Americans, we must seize this moment and help Iranians seize their freedom.

That’s what we do.

Stupid Is As Stupid Does

Who ends up paying for the Lakers Victory Parade? Is this really the time to have a party when California is broke and Los Angelinos and police are being laid off left and right?

The Los Angeles police officers' union isn't happy with the compromise the city struck with the Lakers to share the costs of Wednesday's parade celebrating the team's world championship victory.

Paul M. Weber, president of the Los Angeles Police Protective League, said the city should not be paying for the parade at a time when workers are facing layoffs and forced furloughs.

I won't forget the mess the rioters made after the Laker's win Sunday evening either. Helicopter after helicopter and siren after siren rumbled over my house and blared down the street, heading towards the Staple Center in downtown Los Angeles.

I don't mean to sound like a downer with everyone and their dog celebrating the victory of this ..uhhh...basketball team the Lakers. It's pretty obvious I'm not much of a sports fan.
I'm watching the big broo-ha-ha at the wal-to-wall filled Coliseum stadium right now on the news. But really, how much of an impact is this going to make on Los Angelinos for the rest of their lives? Or tomorrow for that matter?
I know...it's all in fun. I just wished I weren't stuck with the tab.

Marco Rubio: Testing The Waters

Last Tuesday, Republican Marco Rubio, former speaker of the Florida House of Representatives, announced a bid for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Mel Martinez. At 37, Rubio, a fresh-faced charismatic Cuban American and Jeb Bush protégé, would seem to be the perfect recruit for statewide office. But a big obstacle stands between him and the GOP nomination: Charlie Crist, the state's popular, moderate, one-term governor, who is expected to announce his own run for the Senate seat very soon.

.....That will change between now and the August 2010 primary, as the media flock to cover the most prominent conservative-versus-moderate Republican primary campaign in the country. When Republicans in Florida get to know Rubio, they will discover a dynamic speaker with an appealing biography and a deeply held conservative philosophy.

......He then landed a few punches, saying Crist's plan to impose "big-government mandates" to cap carbon emissions in Florida would hurt the economy with little return for the environment. Rubio criticized Crist's property tax reduction as "a cosmetic fix to a very serious problem." Rubio had unsuccessfully fought to abolish the property tax and replace it with a 2.5 percent consumption tax.

He also took aim at Crist's support for the stimulus package and especially his decision to campaign for it with Obama in Florida. "It's one thing to say you'll accept the funds from the federal government," Rubio said, "it's another to actively advocate those policies, which I think are disastrous for America."

RIP Bea Arthur

Bea Arthur dies at 86. She was one helluva lady.

The star of the TV shows "Maude" and "The Golden Girls" died peacefully at her Los Angeles home with her family at her side, family spokesman Dan Watt said. She had cancer, he said, but declined to give details.

"She was a brilliant and witty woman," said Watt, who was Arthur's personal assistant for six years. "Bea will always have a special place in my heart."

Arthur first appeared in the landmark comedy series "All in the Family" as Edith Bunker's outspoken, liberal cousin, Maude Finley. She proved a perfect foil for blue-collar bigot Archie Bunker (Carroll O'Connor), and their blistering exchanges were so entertaining that producer Norman Lear fashioned Arthur's own series.

U.S. Airway Plain Crashes in Hudson River

It wasn't but 90 seconds in flight, when Airbus 320 went down. The cause were a flock of geese that hit both engines, of all things. Thank God all passengers were off the plane and accounted for. The pilot came on the intercom and told passengers, "prepare for impact."

Passengers were sent fleeing into the icy waters when the Airbus 320 went down shortly after takeoff near 48th Street in Manhattan.

Two of the jet's engines were hit by a flock of birds, according to government officials. The Federal Aviation Administration said everyone on board survived and was off the plane.

"There were eyewitness reports the plane may have flown into a flock of birds," said FAA spokeswoman Laura Brown. "Right now we don't have any indication this was anything other than an accident."

Most of the passengers were quarantined at the New York City ferry terminal at 42nd Street, though at least two were taken away on stretchers. It wasn't known how many were hurt, though no serious injuries were reported.

Serious Security Flaw Found in IE

Just getting the message out and perhaps something to consider.....

The flaw in Microsoft's Internet Explorer could allow criminals to take control of people's computers and steal their passwords, internet experts say.

..."The message needs to get out that this malicious code can be planted on any web site, so simple careful browsing isn't enough."

"It's a shame Microsoft have not been able to fix this more quickly, but letting people know about this flaw was the right thing to do. If you keep flaws like this quiet, people are put at risk without knowing it."

Rev Jeremiah Wright, "God damn America"

Its pretty appalling. Actually its really disturbing. It pretty much makes the blood in my veins boil. Heck, its just downright nasty.
"Reverend" Jeremiah Wright has been Barack Obama's pastor for the last 20 years. He married Obama and his wife Michelle. He baptized their children. If I recall, Barack Obama once called Jeremia Wright a good friend. He does have a role in Obama's campaign, doncha know.
I wonder what Obama, Michelle and his children think when they hear sermons like this, on a Sunday morning?

Big Boys Don't Cry

Now don't get me wrong....this has nothing to do with Brett Favre. From what I understand he was a great quarterback, played for 17 years, 180 games straight, and he's an outstanding family man. But I have to wonder what it is about some men today and the fact that they will weep uncontrollably in public for reasons....well....frankly, for reasons not worth sobbing over. Poor Favre was quite tormented. I mean, the guy is only retiring for crying out loud. Its not like its a matter of life or death. And he's retiring worth $millions I might add.

Unless you care to watch the whole video.....its only the first three or so minutes of nine, that has Favre blubbering. He was really beside himself, poor guy.....
