Monkees Singer Davy Jones Dies At 66

Davy Jones -- lead singer of The Monkees -- died after suffering a heart attack this morning.

An official from the medical examiner's office for Martin County, Florida confirmed with TMZ they received a call from Martin Memorial Hospital informing them that Jones had passed away.

We're told Davy suffered the heart attack at a ranch near his Florida home, where he was visiting his horses. Davy began experiencing distress while he was sitting in his car, and that's where a ranch hand found him.

The ranch hand told Sheriff's detectives ... the singer began to complain that he was not feeling well and was having trouble breathing. Paramedics were called and Jones was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. Authorities say there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

Jones is survived by his wife Jessica and 4 daughters from previous marriages. He was 66-years-old. Jones was married to Jessica Pacheco -- his 3rd wife.

A Saturday Morning Verklempt Moment

(Mel) Gibson presented an American Cinematheque Award to (Robert)Downey Jr., who revealed to the crowd that he had the troubled actor-director onstage for a reason.

Downey and Gibson (who costarred in the 1990 film “Air America”) both struggled with substance abuse and multiple scrapes with the law, but Downey revealed during his at-once funny and poignant speech that Gibson greatly helped the now-clean and sober “Iron Man” star when he was down and out and practically blackballed by the industry:

“When I couldn’t get sober, he told me not to give up hope, and he urged me to find my faith. It didn‘t have to be his or anyone else’s as long as it was rooted in forgiveness. And I couldn’t get hired, so he cast me in a lead of a movie that was actually developed for him. And he kept a roof over my head, and he kept food on the table. And most importantly he said that if I accepted responsibility for my wrongdoings, and if I embraced that part of my soul that was ugly—hugging the cactus, he calls it—he said that if I hugged the cactus long enough I would become a man of some humility and that my life would take on a new meaning, and I did, and it worked.

I admire one who has the faith and strength to literally pull themselves out of the gutter to become a better person for it. These are the kind of stories that are close to me.

Fred Seaman worked alongside the music legend from 1979 to Lennon's death at the end of 1980 and he reveals the star was a Ronald Reagan fan who enjoyed arguing with left-wing radicals who reminded him of his former self.

Since clueless liberal Roger Ebert had this to say about Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged, it just makes me want to see it even more.

So OK. Let’s say you know the novel, you agree with Ayn Rand, you’re an objectivist or a libertarian, and you’ve been waiting eagerly for this movie. Man, are you going to get a letdown. It’s not enough that a movie agree with you, in however an incoherent and murky fashion. It would help if it were like, you know, entertaining?

The movie is constructed of a few kinds of scenes: (1) People sipping their drinks in clubby surroundings and exchanging dialogue that sounds like corporate lingo; (2) railroads, and lots of ’em; (3) limousines driving through cities in ruin and arriving at ornate buildings; (4) city skylines; (5) the beauties of Colorado. There is also a love scene, which is shown not merely from the waist up but from the ears up. The man keeps his shirt on. This may be disappointing for libertarians, who I believe enjoy rumpy-pumpy as much as anyone.

On the other hand, others may see the message differently.

Freaky-Deeky Leftist Hollyweird Propaganda (Video)

A school principal has apologized for showing a video at an assembly that a politically conservative group leader is calling "radical, leftist propaganda."
...The video then features celebrities making pledges about how they will help the president and the world -- and that's where some say the problem lies.
..."Showing the video in a public school is completely inappropriate," said Jennifer Cieslewicz, whose daughter is a first-grader at the school. "I don't believe a video such as this that promotes certain values should be shown to elementary students, especially without parents being aware. "

So some of this is good. But a lot of it is just wrong. I want to point out just a few of the things that only confirms my opinion on the stupidity of these Hollywood actors that has me going....hmmm. Seriously, are they stupid or something? One Fruit Loop short of a full bowl? One taco shy of a combo plate? As smart as bait? Dumber than a box of hair? I think so.

Whitney Houston: She's Back...

....And with a vengeance. I've always liked Whitney Houston. It was ashame when she got involved with Bobby Brown and the fall she took because of it. A fall so hard and so humiliating. Time and again the media would smear her with video's of her so drugged out and looking haggard. I had hoped that she would clean herself up and come back on the music scene with those golden pipes that, in my opinion, can be inspiring. And come back she did with a vengeance.

She appeared on Good Morning America and sang an emotional I Look To You. Her first television appearance in seven years. I'm sure there will be critics who won't be happy with anything about her. It seems there are a few critics who can't be satisfied with any artist, don't know why.

This is the first I heard I Look To You and I have to say, I could relate to every verse she belted out. Been there, done that. Although the road we take through our trials and tribulations are very different with each person. Yet the emotional rollercoaster of addiction is all the same. Addiction can be a son of a bitch and God help you if you can't pull yourself out of it.

The course I'm faced with today is indeed a very different path. It's a test I didn't choose but one that God allowed. But because of my past, I am a stronger person today. And with that I thank God. For my past and for the gift of my disabled child today.
It's interesting to examine the life you've lived, up to this day. What tomorrow will bring.....is promised to no one.

It seems through the support of God and Whitney Houston's mother, gospel singer Cissy Houston, both of whom never left her, she pulled herself out of hell. Good for her. I hope she stays clean.
