The Great Boatlift of 9/11 became the largest sea evacuation in history. Larger than the evacuation of Dunkirk in World War II where 339,000 British soldiers were rescued over the course of nine days. On 9/11 nearly 500,000 civilians were rescued from Manhattan by boat. It took less than nine hours.
The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart. -- Helen Keller

Have You Forgotten?
September 11, 2001 was the day our freedom came under attack. The day I will never forget. The day my life literally changed forever. That Tuesday morning at 8:45 a.m. the most heinous act of evil attacked our country and murdered more than 3,000 innocent men and women. Brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers. It was the most barbaric act of insanity.
Freedom itself was attacked this morning by a faceless coward and freedom will be defended. ~ President George W. Bush
America is a nation full of good fortune, with so much to be grateful for. But we are not spared from suffering. In every generation, the world has produced enemies of human freedom. They have attacked America, because we are freedom's home and defender. And the commitment of our fathers is now the calling of our time. ~ President George W. Bush

This nation is peaceful, but fierce when stirred to anger. This conflict was begun on the timing and terms of others. It will end in a way, and at an hour, of our choosing. ~ President George W. Bush
Never forget...
