Media Bias vs. Pro-Life vs. Planned Parenthood

In the most recent Gallup poll on abortion, as many Americans described themselves as pro-life as called themselves pro-choice. A combined 58 percent of Americans stated that abortion should either be “illegal in all circumstances” or “legal in only a few circumstances.” These results do not vary appreciably by gender: in the first Gallup poll to show a slight pro-life majority, conducted in May 2009, half of American women described themselves as pro-life.

....From the nightly news shows to print and online media, the coverage’s tone alternated between wonder and outrage — wonder that anyone could possibly find Planned Parenthood even remotely controversial and outrage that the Komen foundation had “politicized” the cause of women’s health.

“That ubiquitous pink ribbon ... is sporting a black eye today,” Claire Shipman announced on ABC News Thursday, while Diane Sawyer nodded along. On MSNBC, Andrea Mitchell dressed down the Komen foundation’s founder, Nancy Brinker: “I have to tell you,” Mitchell said, “this is shocking to a lot of your longtime supporters. ... How could this have taken place?” In story after story, journalists explicitly passed judgment on Komen for creating a controversy where none need ever have existed.

Conservative complaints about media bias are sometimes overdrawn. But on the abortion issue, the press’s prejudices are often absolute, its biases blatant and its blinders impenetrable. In many newsrooms and television studios across the country, Planned Parenthood is regarded as the equivalent of, well, the Komen foundation: an apolitical, high-minded and humanitarian institution whose work no rational person — and certainly no self-respecting woman — could possibly question or oppose.

But of course millions of Americans — including, yes, millions of American women — do oppose Planned Parenthood. They oppose the 300,000-plus abortions it performs every year (making it the largest abortion provider in the country), and they oppose its tireless opposition to even modest limits on abortion.

....By way of comparison, the organization also refers pregnant women for adoption. In 2010, this happened 841 times, against 329,445 abortions....

Clinic Workers Laugh As Ambulance Takes Woman Injured In Botched Abortion

A new video has surfaced showing workers at an abortion clinic in Milwaukee, Wisconsin dancing and laughing as they wait for an ambulance to pull up to take a woman to the hospital who has suffered injures from a botched abortion.
The video has employees of Affiliated Medical Services transporting the third woman this year to a local hospital following a failed abortion. The video, from Friday as abortion practitioner Bernie Smith was reportedly on duty, shows AMS staff clearly seen laughing, dancing and even doing the limbo as the woman is taken away.
“Those who lobby for abortion’s legality claim that if abortion were made illegal, women would have to resort to dirty, back-alley abortions,” PLW says. “But the reverse has actually happened — as was sadly illustrated with Kermit Gosnell’s “House of Horrors” abortuary in Philadelphia, the dirty, back-alley abortions are legal and no one is watching.”

“This is at least the third time this year an ambulance has arrived at AMS after a botched abortion; sidewalk counselors recorded two separate ambulance visits on April 8,” PLW continues. “Abortion facilities in Milwaukee are not subject to health inspections. Some days the smell of death — blood and flesh — can be smelled wafting out of AMS when the staff open the doors.”

“AMS has been the site of 40 Days for Life for three years now. Sidewalk counselors and prayer warriors are present at AMS year-round as well. 40 Days vigilers were in front of AMS when this occurred,” it concluded. “Women have been taken to Columbia St. Mary’s after botched abortions, forcing a Catholic hospital and staff to clean up the abortionist’s mess.”

Nancy Pelosi was asked: Did Jesus have a right to life from the moment of conception?

Via Allahpundit at HotAir:
Simple question: When, precisely, does she think the Word actually became Flesh, and would it have been okay to vacuum him out of the holy womb in the name of “choice” before that moment?
Nancy Pelosi, a Catholic, favors legalized abortion, voted against the ban on partial-birth abortion that was enacted in 2003.

Are You Late?

The first abortion commercial on British television is to be broadcast next week - in defiance of concerns from family groups and church leaders.

The Marie Stopes organisation, which receives an estimated £30million a year from the NHS to carry out abortions, is behind the controversial advert.

Angry campaigners claimed that Marie Stopes is taking advantage of a loophole in advertising regulations.

ReidCare: The Promise of Transparency..In The Dark Of Night

Via Gabriel Malor at AoSHQ:
Yes, America, this is how laws get made now: written in secret, voted on in the dark of night.

Tonight will be the first of three procedural votes the Democrats need to pass in order to destroy America's healthcare system.

Assuming they get 60 votes for cloture on the Manager's Amendment, the Democrats must wait 30 hours for the next vote (roughly until 7am Tuesday) , which will be an up-or-down vote on the Manager's Amendment. 50 votes required.

Immediately following the vote on the Manager's Amendment there's going to be a cloture vote on the Reid Substitute. It also requires 60 votes. Then Democrats must wait 30 more hours for an up-or-down vote on the Reid Substitute (until roughly 1pm Wednesday) . Only 50 votes required.

Immediately after the vote on the Reid Substitute, there will be a cloture vote on the final bill, ReidCare. 60 votes required. Then Democrats must wait 30 more hours for the final up-or-down vote on ReidCare. That requires only 50 votes and it should take place, if everything goes according to schedule, on Thursday, Christmas Eve around 7pm.

Merry Fucking Christmas.

1:08am So Reid's just yammering on. Can we tweak him for already being off schedule?

1:10am Voting now. Am I a bad person for hoping for a freak earthquake?

1:17am It's done. No surprises. The vote was 60-40 on strict party lines. The clock is now ticking.

Wicked

New undercover footage from an Appleton, WI Planned Parenthood abortion clinic shows clinic staff, including the abortion doctor, lying to two young women about fetal development and encouraging the one who is pregnant to obtain an abortion because "women die having babies."

In the undercover video, when the two women ask a Planned Parenthood counselor if the pregnant woman's 10-week-old unborn child has a heartbeat, the counselor emphasizes "heart tones," and answers, "Heart beat is when the fetus is active in the uterus--can survive--which is about seventeen or eighteen weeks." On the contrary, embryologists agree that the heartbeat begins around 3 weeks. Wisconsin informed consent law requires that women receive medically accurate information before undergoing an abortion.

The counselor then says, "A fetus is what's in the uterus right now. That is not a baby." Dr. Prohaska, the abortion doctor, insists, "It's not a baby at this stage or anything like that." Prohaska also states that having an abortion will be "much safer than having a baby," warning, "You know, women die having babies."

Aborted Fetal Material Used in Anti-Wrinkle Creams

It's come to this. A cosmetic company is using aborted fetal tissue in their skin care product. Embryonic stem cell research is working hard.

Children of God for Life announced today that Neocutis, a bio-pharmaceutical company focused on dermatology and skin care is using aborted fetal cell lines to produce several of their anti-aging skin creams.

"It is absolutely deplorable that Neocutis would resort to exploiting the remains of a deliberately slaughtered baby for nothing other than pure vanity and financial gain," stated Executive Director Debi Vinnedge. "There is simply no moral justification for this."

For years Children of God for Life has been a watchdog on pharmaceutical companies using aborted fetal cell lines in medical products and they have received thousands of inquiries from the public on the use of aborted fetal material in cosmetics.

Until now, this was the first time they have encountered any company bold enough to put the information right on their own website and product literature. A quick investigation into the science behind the products revealed the shameless data.

Neocutis' key ingredient known as "Processed Skin Proteins" was developed at the University of Luasanne from the skin tissue of a 14-week gestation electively-aborted male baby donated by the University Hospital in Switzerland. Subsequently, a working cell bank was established, containing several billion cultured skin cells to produce the human growth factor needed to restore aging skin. The list of products using the cell line include: Bio-Gel, Journee, Bio-Serum, Prevedem, Bio Restorative Skin Cream and Lumiere. But Vinnedge is calling for a full boycott of all Neocutis products, regardless of their source.

"There is absolutely no reason to use aborted babies for such selfish motives," Vinnedge said. "It is anti-life, anti-woman and counter-productive as Neocutis is about to find out!"

Don't believe it? Check it out.
Through years of research, physicians discovered fetal skin has a unique ability to heal wounds without scarring. Inspired by this, medical researchers at the University Hospital of Lausanne, Switzerland created a biotechnology process to extract the rich proteins responsible for scarless wound healing from cultured fetal skin cells. A small biopsy of fetal skin was donated following a one-time medical termination and a dedicated cell bank was established for developing new skin treatments.
The atrocities of a society today.

California School Board Will Allow Students To Leave Campus For Abortion Without Notifying Parents

The Modesto City School Board on Monday voted to allow junior high and high school students to leave campus during the school day for “confidential medical services,” such as abortions, without the consent or knowledge of their parents.

The school board adopted the new policy in a preliminary vote of 4-3, the California Catholic Daily says. The board members will take another vote on the issue on July 13th.

Karen England, executive director of the pro-family lobbying group Capitol Resource Institute, attended the meeting and reported that four people testified in favor of “excluding parents.” Three were from Planned Parenthood while one was described as an “activist.”

Planned Parenthood: Statutory Rape Concealed

Via WorldNetDaily:
Planned Parenthood's Phoenix, Ariz., facilities have been caught on video attempting to conceal statutory rape, according to a new undercover production from pro-life activist Lila Rose and her Live Action Films organization.

Rose and co-worker Jackie Stollar, both college students, posed as 15-year-olds to enter two Phoenix Planned Parenthood facilities, seeking information about abortions for a "pregnant" teen. They stated the "boyfriend" was 27, but neither office reported the apparent violation of Arizona's statute requiring that law enforcement be notified immediately if an adult-child sexual relationship is known.

Stoller explained that the boyfriend is "a lot older than me," generating the first staffer's response that, "We don't ask any questions."

At the second clinic, an employee assured the girls that "everything is confidential," even after hearing that the boyfriend is 27.

12 yr old Speaks Out on Abortion

At first I thought this was going to be just another 12 year old child who read from a script that her parents had written for her to read. I didn't expect her to be this good. She spoke eloquently and convincingly. She prepared this speech for her 7th grade class and delivered it brilliantly. This 12 yr. old researched the topic of abortion and addressed it with facts.
Then again some might say she has no business reciting politics at such a young age. Children should remain children and shouldn't be made to voice political opinion. Just as conservatives were in an uproar about those kids that were made to sing that Obama song in school.

I thought she was articulate and quite stunning. For a 12 year old, she kept my attention to the very end of her 5 minute video.

Obama and Infanticide

Ed Morrissey of Hot Air said what I was thinking when I posted the born alive botched abortion article. Barack Obama continually voted against the Born Alive Infants Protection Act.

President Barack Obama in 2003 insisted that abortion clinics don’t commit infanticide because … well, because they’re doctors:

[T]he only plausible rationale, to my mind, for this legislation would be if you had a suspicion that a doctor, the attending physician, who has made the assessment that this is a nonviable fetus and that, let’s say for the purposes of the mother’s health, is being — that — that labor is being induced, that that physician (a) is going to make the wrong assessment and (b) if the physician discovered, after the labor had been induced, that, in fact, he made an error, and in fact this was not a nonviable fetus but, in fact, a live child, that the physician, of his own accord or her own accord, would not try to exercise the sort of medical procedures and practices that would be involved in saving that child.

Now, if — if you think that there are possibilities that doctors would not do that, then maybe this bill makes sense, but I — I suspect and my impression is, is that the Medical Society suspects that doctors feel that they would already be under that obligation[.]

Obama tried denying that this practice occurs in order to suck up to the abortion industry and help them avoid responsibility for killing live infants. Jill Stanek had already testified that she personally had witnessed this practice as a nurse at Christ Hospital in Chicago, which was affiliated with Obama’s own church, Trinity United Church of Christ. The Illinois legislature heard further testimony that as many as 40% of late-term abortions resulted in a live birth, whom staff would abandon until death rather than provide the necessary medical care to save the infants’ lives.

But Obama, in thrall of Planned Parenthood and Big Abortion, continued to deny it.

Apparently this was preferable to “punishing” Williams with a child. At least that’s what Barack Obama thought in 2001-3, when he had an opportunity to defend innocent life and stop this practice.

Update: Jill Stanek notes that the physician’s license to practice has been suspended as a result of the investigation:

The Florida Board of Medicine has revoked the license of a doctor following a badly botched abortion the doctor never showed up to. …

The Board of Medicine revoked [his] license to practice medicine, at a hearing in Tampa. Neither Renelique nor his attorney would answer questions from ABC Action News.com.

Jill also catches an interesting quote from another link, which appears to be down:

Renelique’s attorney, Joseph Harrison, told the medical board, “His record of a lifetime of practicing medicine does not warrant revocation.”

The patient, Harrison said, “came in for an abortion. This patient came in to have the fetus rendered and terminated.”

The defense of this action is that “the patient wanted a baby killed, and that’s what she got”? Either that, or “What’s a little infanticide between colleagues”? Got it.

Also, the original Buffalo News report appears to have been cleansed. The Kid from Brooklyn send the link from the Boston Herald, which remains in its original form.

Lawsuit Filed for Baby Born Alive and Then Killed

Another case of infanticide. This cannot go unpunished or ignored.

Eighteen and pregnant, Sycloria Williams went to an abortion clinic outside Miami and paid $1,200 for Dr. Pierre Jean-Jacque Renelique to terminate her 23-week pregnancy.

Three days later, she sat in a reclining chair, medicated to dilate her cervix and otherwise get her ready for the procedure.

Only Renelique didn't arrive in time. According to Williams and the Florida Department of Health, she went into labor and delivered a live baby girl.

What Williams and the Health Department say happened next has shocked people on both sides of the abortion debate: One of the clinic's owners, who has no medical license, cut the infant's umbilical cord. Williams says the woman placed the baby in a plastic biohazard bag and threw it out.

Police recovered the decomposing remains in a cardboard box a week later after getting anonymous tips.

"I don't care what your politics are, what your morals are, this should not be happening in our community," said Tom Pennekamp, a Miami attorney representing Williams in her lawsuit against Renelique (ren-uh-LEEK') and the clinic owners.

The state Board of Medicine is to hear Renelique's case in Tampa on Friday and determine whether to strip his license. The state attorney's homicide division is investigating, though no charges have been filed. Terry Chavez, a spokeswoman with the Miami-Dade County State Attorney's Office, said this week that prosecutors were nearing a decision.

Renelique's attorney, Joseph Harrison, called the allegations at best "misguided and incomplete" in an e-mail to The Associated Press. He didn't provide details.

Anyone that can be this barbaric should be hung by his b@lls.
....The complaint says one of the clinic owners, Belkis Gonzalez came in and cut the umbilical cord with scissors, then placed the baby in a plastic bag, and the bag in a trash can.

Williams' lawsuit offers a cruder account: She says Gonzalez knocked the baby off the recliner chair where she had given birth, onto the floor. The baby's umbilical cord was not clamped, allowing her to bleed out. Gonzalez scooped the baby, placenta and afterbirth into a red plastic biohazard bag and threw it out.

No working telephone number could be found for Gonzalez, and an attorney who has represented the clinic in the past did not return a message.

At 23 weeks, an otherwise healthy fetus would have a slim but legitimate chance of survival. Quadruplets born at 23 weeks last year at The Nebraska Medical Center survived.

Obama: Signing Executive Order Authorizing Money for Abortions Today

American taxpayers will be paying for abortions overseas.

President Barack Obama plans to sign an executive order ending the ban on federal funds for international groups that promote or perform abortions, officials told The Associated Press on Friday.

The move, long expected in the Democratic president's first week in office, will be welcomed by liberals and criticized by abortion rights foes.

Also known as the "Mexico City policy," it has been reinstated and then reversed by Republican and Democratic presidents since GOP President Ronald Reagan established it in 1984. President Bill Clinton ended the ban in 1993, but President George W. Bush re-instituted it in 2001 as one of his first acts in office.

Obama was expected to sign the executive order at a low-key event, one day after the 36th anniversary of the landmark Supreme Court ruling in Roe v. Wade that legalized abortion.

March for Life, 22 Weeks

Ed Morrissey of HotAir writes:

Today, the Left celebrates the 36th anniversary of Roe v Wade, while the pro-life movement mourns the deaths of over 44 million aborted babies. In Washington DC, March for Life will protest the Roe decision as well as the widely-expected Freedom of Choice Act that Barack Obama promised to push through Congress. The Anchoress also anticipates that Barack Obama will end the Mexico City policy by executive order as early as today and restore American funding of abortions overseas.

Today, I’ll interview Angel Manuel Soto, the director of a new film, 22 Weeks, about a true story of an abortion and what happened when the child survived. Joining us will be the mother, Angele, to give her perspective on Roe and the abortion industry. The film is now playing in selected theaters throughout the country, but can also be purchased on DVD now. The website has a lot more information, and a trailer:

Abortion clinic .. 9-11 call, Baby Rowan

March for Life:
The purpose of the 36th annual March for Life is to educate Washington Officialdom and the entire American citizenry and media that the Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade opinion is illicit because it attempts to authorize the intentional killing of innocent preborn humans with impunity. But, as we learn from the principles of the Nuremberg Trials, the intentional killing of innocent humans is a crime against humanity which neither a public official nor any human person has the authority to legalize. Nevertheless, in Roe v. Wade, our Supreme Court unfortunately decriminalized the intentional killing of preborn children— for now.

Gianna Jessen on Laura Ingraham Show

To listen to Gianna Jessen is like a breath of fresh air. She has an awesome love for life and a contagious giggle that's sure to put a smile on your face.

Laura Ingraham interviewed Gianna Jessen on her radio program Wednesday, Sept. 17th. The story of her life is horribly tragic. However, you'll never convince Gianna of that. She's been blessed. And I can see why.

Gianna met her biological mother two years ago and her mother said, "Hi, I'm your mother and basically deal with it." Gianna's reaction was, "I'm a Christian and I forgive you for what you've done. I know there are women out there that are in excruciating pain listening to this story because of their own abortions. One thing I want to get out to people is, look I'm not on a big crusade of condemnation. I'm about compassion and just giving some relief to those women."

She lived with her mother for a brief time as an infant. She was removed from that enviornment out of necessity. At 17 months old, she was placed into an emergency foster care. They didn't like her so they would stick her in a room and shut the door for long periods of time. That can be so damaging to a baby.

She was then placed in another home by a wonderful woman named Penny. Penny saved her life by loving her. Penny's daughter adopted Gianna at 3-1/2 years old.

Tragedy falls on us all at one time or another and to whatever degree. I believe that you can turn your adversities into something positive, or you can choose to be a victim. Gianna made her choice and ran with a mission to raise her voice to those children who weren't as fortunate as she. It's a gift from God to see the rewards given to you from a life of such hardship. To be able to turn that tragedy into a gift takes courage.

Born Alive Abortion Survivor Gianna Jesson

Gianna Jesson is 31 years old and an abortion survivor. Gianna survived at two pounds after her mother had aborted her at seven months pregnant. She has mild cerebral palsy due to lack of oxygen for those few minutes after being discarded.

You got it all wrong Alan Colmes. It's not about Roe vs. Wade. It's about getting medical attention to babies who have survived abortions.
Barack Obama voted four times against saving children that have survived abortions, the Born Alive Infant Protection Act. If he isn't supporting infanticide, what is it then?

Democratic candidate for President of the United States, Senator Barack Obama. It's a race that's pretty darn close. There's a good chance that this man could possibly be our next leader.

It's About Life

For the past two days, I've been listening to and watching Jill Stanek, nurse and a pro-life advocate. Her stories of working in the Labor and Delivery department at Christ Hospital in Illinois was heartwrenching and hard to hear. She was fired from Christ Hospital for speaking out against their policy of aborting babies in the second, even third trimesters. Some of the babies that were aborted were alive. Left to die...in soiled linen rooms and garbage cans. How can it be legal to be so criminal? It's absolutely barbaric.

At a hearing for the Born Alive Infants Protection Act on July 20, 2000, Jill Stanek testified at the U.S. House of Representatives:

I am a Registered Nurse who has worked in the Labor & Delivery Department at Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn, Illinois, for the past five years. Christ Hospital performs abortions on women in their second or even third trimesters of pregnancy. Sometimes the babies being aborted are healthy, and sometimes they are not.

The method of abortion that Christ Hospital uses is called "induced labor abortion," also now known as "live birth abortion." This type of abortion can be performed different ways, but the goal always is to cause a pregnant woman's cervix to open so that she will deliver a premature baby who dies during the birth process or soon afterward. The way that induced abortion is most often executed at my hospital is by the physician inserting a medication called Cytotec into the birth canal close to the cervix. Cytotec irritates the cervix and stimulates it to open. When this occurs, the small, preterm baby drops out of the uterus, oftentimes alive. It is not uncommon for one of these live aborted babies to linger for an hour or two or even longer. One of them once lived for almost eight hours.

In an interview with Sean Hannity on August 20th, Jill Stanek talked about the agonizing experience of cradling a live aborted baby for the 45 minutes of it's life. And her fight to pass a bill to save aborted babies that live. A bill the Barack Obama opposed.

video

So I've been dwelling on this despicable act of insanity by some doctors who will encourage couples to have an abortion because their child (may) have downs syndrome. How many times have they been proven wrong? Many. But thats not the point. How many children do you know with downs, who are the most sweetest, happiest children?

And then I think of my daughter, who happens to be severely disabled. And I thank God we didn't listen to those doctors. When I was eight months pregnant the obstetrician who specialized in high risk patients had told me that I would give birth to a stillborn baby, naturally I was stunned. So three other doctors had confirmed that indeed my baby would be born dead.

They urged me to have an amniocentesis procedure, at eight months pregnant. At the time we were in too much shock to think that was a strange request being so far into my pregnancy, but we told them, "No" anyway. Hindsight is 20/20. What are the chances of that needle they would puncture into my uterus, that would also puncture my baby's brain or any other important organ, killing her for certain? At eight months pregnant the room in the womb, I'd say is next to nil. It wouldn't take much for a needle to cause severe damage if not, death.
So I have to seriously wonder why it was that those doctors wanted to perform a procedure that had nothing to do with saving my baby in the womb.

Well guess what? Today she's 19 years old going on 20 next month...and thriving. What happened to "stillborn?" So she may have a ton of disabilities. I suppose God decided she and I have more to do on this crazy planet of ours. And those doctors were dead wrong with their diagnosis. Wrong, wrong, wrong. Did I get any apologies. That's a joke, right?

So I look at my daughter today and I thank God I chose not to listen to those doctors. I look at her and think of all the life learning lessons she's taught me. She is able to do very little, but the life in her eyes is so full of joy and happiness. When I think of what those quacks wanted to do to my baby, it sends chills down my spine.

And what about Senator Barack Obama? I guess you've heard by now too that he opposes the Born Alive Infants Protection Act. Worse yet, now he's lying about it, trying to weasel his way out of his opposition. Whatever it takes for him to win votes.
Obama quote's, "if they make a mistake, I don't want them punished with a baby," speaking about his daughters. That's rich.

Soylent Green 2008, indeed.
