This Oregon woman was denied chemotherapy for her cancer by the Oregon Health Plan. In a letter of denial it states, "we were unable to approve the cancer treatment." But it would pay for "comfort care" including "physican aid in dying." In other words assisted suicide. They would pay for her dying, but not for her to live.
Holy crap...

Have you ever read the John Grisham book (it's also a movie) where the insurance company refused to approve some form of cancer treatment for a young man (it might have been some expensive new drug or something, I can't quite remember)? That's a terrible, inhumane thing, no matter who/what is behind it.
So how are you doing?
Hi M. No, I haven't read that book. What movie was it, do you remember? Sounds pretty intense. Kind of like our lives here in the good ol' U.S. of A..today. Sheesh.
How was your visit with your bro? And being on the other side of the country? :) Are you back home now? Were you able to visit with Diane? Do I have a thousand questions?
Good to see you back online.
Hey Punky :D
Actually I dropped that comment when we were still out West. Today is Wednesday (actually Thursday morning), we got back Monday night. Still haven't had a chance to get back into the Cafe... crazy. If I ever remember the name of the book/movie, I will let you know.
Yes, I did meet Dianne. We planned to get together again but unfortunately it didn't happen. BTW I also ... jumped out of a plane!!
