If anyone can relate to Classic Motown from the 60's and 70's, you'll understand that this performance was one of the best concerts and a night to remember. This was something I was looking forward to since last year.
Now mind you, they weren't the original Tempts and Four Tops. Most all of them have died. sigh But no doubt they were just as awesome.
The Cerritos Auditorium was kind of small, holding about 1700 people. It was nice, quaint and cozy-like. The only problem I had with the place were the type of people that attended. They were all older, bald-er and greyer. Don't get me wrong. Believe me, I blended well. As a matter of fact, we were looking for a handicapped parking space, but they were all taken. There was just a tiny problem with that evening. I was itching to stand up from my seat and bounce around like a dancing fool. But no one...not one single person would stand up not even to sway to the music. How is that possible? How can you stay seated to the sound of Motown? Can someone explain that to me like a six year old? Because we were all older, bald-er and greyer? I think not. The War concert had the same kind of crowd. And not one single person was sitting in their seat. Maybe it's just me. When I hear music that I love, it goes right to my heart and through my soul. There's no stopping the finger snapping, the swaying, and the spirit of the music that runs right through every pore of my being.
Anyway, I had a great time. I take that back. It was fantastic. The Temptations have always been one of my all time favorite groups. The Four Tops were just as cool.
Okay. Laugh if you must, because I enjoy what now appears to be acceptable elevator music. Believe me, you won't think it's so funny 30 years from now when your kids will think you're a riot too.
