It appears that Swedish wrestler Ara Abrahamian had a major hissy fit after judges decided to give the gold to Andrea Minguzzi of Italy. Abrahamian took his bronze medal from around his neck and threw it down onto the floor of the podium during the medal ceremony. Seriously...whatever happened to gratitude at any level? Ara might consider taking an anger mangement course. That kind of anger can cause a whole host of problems!
Former Olympic and world judo champion Keiji Suzuki who said he's feeling "empty" after a "humiliating" first round defeat. He's considering his future in sports now. "I didn't do what I wanted to. I couldn't use any of my techniques. I have nothing left," a tearful Suzuki said after he was defeated by Mongolia's Naidan Tuvshinbayar with a tackle throw (morote-gari). "If I step onto the tatami again, I may probably be thrown again. I'm really empty now," he said.
Good gawd, pah-leeze give me a break here! Someone seriously needs to slap him upside his head and tell this 6'1" 220 lb young man to snap out of it and get a grip for crying out loud.
Then you have the Spanish basketball team in a photo mocking the shape of Asian eyes. That's rich. If you look up the word juvenile in the dictionary, you'll see a picture of the Spanish basketball team next to it.
Not only once, but they dared to do it again.
Not only once, but they dared to do it again.
Can someone say, moron?
Most of these athletes have trained for this moment from the time they learned to walk. To march into an Olympic arena, representing their country has to be the most exhilerating experience. These kids devote their lives to train for the Olympic Gold Medal. They come to the Olympic games with hope and a confidence that only they can know. And if God forbid they don't qualify for the finals, the experience of being a part of this worlwide sportsfest only, has to be the most humbling in itself. What a proud moment it has to be. What wonderful memories it must be to carry that for the rest of your life.
The Olympic games are made up of the finest and the best athletes in the world. They represent their country which should be demonstrated with respect and honor. So why would anyone want to cause any dissension if there is no solid reason to do so? It would be ashame to remember an Olympic experience in that way. So c'mon now...if you're going to sulk, do it privately. Then come back with a vengeance in four years.
