Oprah Winfrey: "A new definition of what diversity means for everybody."

A transgender....who was born a woman decided she wanted to be a man 10 years ago. So she went through all the testosterone hormone injections and surgery to flatten her chest. But he kept her reproductive organs because she had the female urge to be a mother. I hope it won't harm the baby in any way by altering the body by making such radical changes. But according to his ob, the baby is doing fine at this point.

A transgender man who is six months pregnant said in an interview aired by Oprah Winfrey on Thursday that he always wanted to have a child and considers it a miracle.

"It's not a male or female desire to have a child. It's a human desire," a thinly bearded Thomas Beatie said. "I have a very stable male identity," he added, saying that pregnancy neither defines him nor makes him feel feminine.
I beg to differ. Granted a male may have a desire to have a child. But the desire for a woman is very different from that of a man. It is not just a human desire. The internal urge of a woman to bear her child goes to the core of her very being. Can a man say the same thing?

Frankly, this is jaw dropping. I'm pretty speechless, flabbergasted, befuddled.....Stupified, mystified, perplexified (ok so that might not be a word). Or am I just old fashioned and need to get with the times...?

Totally bazarre......

That's child abuse, in the worst sense. What he's done to his body has affected his/her ovaries and reproductive stuff.....I know this to be fact, since I participated in scientific studies on fish (which ARE different from humans, but not that much) and there's no way that this child is going to be "normal"
Sure, it might not show...but it's gonna make a difference.
He is wrong, but being sincerely deluded doesn't make him less of a child abuser.
God forgive us.

We always thought the heavens would fall, it was the ultimate joke, the idea of a pregnant man. So.

Boggles my mind. On various levels. One is ... how does the baby get out? Oh yeah, what did Opie have to say about the whole thing? I take it she thinks it's all good?

Thanks D. I don't doubt at all that it will do some kind of damage to that baby. To alter the body so drastically with hormone injections whether two months or two years ago, has to affect the baby in one way or another.

Hey M. Hmm...don't know what reproductive organs they saved or what the heck they were doing in there! Weird indeed. Maybe he/she'll have a c-section. sheesh...whadda mess.

Saw just a bit of Opie yesterday and lost interest REAL fast. But they're (radio) saying this morning that Op's website was bombarded with emails complaining about that episode, claiming that show has turned into just another Jerry Springer-type. So true.....
She'll do anything for ratings and a $buck, eh?? sad.......

Thanks Casdok....this is bazarre indeed!
