Mark Everson has resigned as president of the Red Cross organization effective immediately for having an affair with a Red Cross employee. Mr. Everson is married with two children.
The Red Cross has had a big turnover of having five leaders in the past six years. The organization was in 'hot water' after the incidence with Sept. 11th and Katrina. But when Mark Everson came on board in May the board seemed to be pleased with his performance, i.e. the California wildfires.
Some are saying, what he does in his personal life does not affect the performance of his job, which was good.
Others say, it's immoral, it's unethical and if he's going to do it....NOT with an employee for crying out loud.
In a statement, the Red Cross said its board of governors asked for and received Everson's resignation, effective immediately, after learning within the past two weeks of the relationship with a woman on the Red Cross staff. The woman was not identified.
"The board acted quickly after learning that Mr. Everson engaged in a personal relationship with a subordinate employee," the statement said. "It concluded that the situation reflected poor judgment on Mr. Everson's part and diminished his ability to lead the organization in the future."

It kind of reminds me of Clinton. I'm surprised you didn't make the connection.
So, my opinion ... with a subordinate employee? Yeah, he probably has to go. After all, if nothing else, he is opening his employer up to a sexual harassment suite.
But looking at the bigger picture, it was worse with Clinton. Because of his position. And yet, the same arguments were used ... what he does in his personal life doesn't affect his job performance. Hey, let's get real, does the President of the US even have a personal life??
I didn't think I could compare Clinton with this topic for one because I think he seriously has a sexual addiction. I don't think we can take Clinton's affairs lightly but that he's done some horrible acts.
I suppose whether the president of a country, a CEO or a General of the Armed Forces to be in that kind of position, like you say at that point they don't have a personal life. Whether they like it or not, they need to portray a certain image.
On the other hand, what if his job performance was excellent and in no way affected his personal lifestyle?
